06 Nov People with less resources contribute more to climate change mitigation
This is the sad conclusion of an experimental research project we just published in PLOS ONE, available here. Our work points out to the need for a fairer effort distribution of the mitigation effort, not only among individuals (who were the subjects in our experiments) but also between collectives (regions, countries,…). Our observations agree with the fact that in the Western countries there is a lot of talk about fighting global warming but there is very little action, and it is becoming evident that there is no time to wast as the IPCC recently reported. Further research is needed on the experimental front to find how to help people realize the importance of this problem and the need for everybody’s fair contribution.
